Our range of advanced composite materials is fully supported by our team of highly experienced technicians and engineers and we now have a vacancy for a Composite Technician based at our manufacturing centre at Upton Road, Poole, Dorset.

Personal Characteristics:

The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and committed – a self-starter – with a high level of integrity. Working well as part of a team, the candidate must possess a willingness to learn and to then put that learning into immediate action.

Experience and qualifications:

GCSE Maths and English and GCSE or equivalent in science / scientific subjects such as Chemistry/Physics/Biology, and an interest in science and engineering is a must! The role is practical and hands-on, in a lab and production environment. The ideal candidate must be able to follow instruction, be responsible with health and safety, and demonstrate integrity as a key part of PRF’s working culture. Internal training, and external as necessary, will be provided.

Duties:

The role will comprise mainly in assisting running the 2 state-of-the-art Fabric and UD prepreg lines, based at our Upton Road facility.

Duties will include:

  • Preparing mixes of resin batches.
  • Fabric, paper and poly roll changes.
  • Labelling and packing prepreg rolls.
  • Freezer stock checks.
  • Quality assurance testing of resin and prepreg (DSC and Prepreg Weight Checks).
  • Preparing samples or resin and prepreg for further testing.
  • Adhering to quality and 5S standards.

Training can be given to the right individual.

PRF Composite Materials is a leading material manufacturer and supplier based in Dorset on the south coast. Having made substantial investments over the past 2 years, including a new prepreg line, with a capacity of 1 million metres p.a., a new kitting and preforming facility, and new materials testing and process laboratories, we are now seeking a talented sales engineer to join our team supplying composite materials. This role will focus on supplying prepreg and advanced composite materials into the Automotive, Defence, Motorsport and Aerospace industries.

The ideal candidate will be a technically-minded individual, having studied engineering to graduate level and with comprehensive knowledge of prepreg and advanced composite materials. The candidate must have experience in the composites industry and must hold a practical knowledge of processing methods for these materials. For the sales side of the role, we are looking for an individual who is personable and thrives on building relationships, with the ability to perform under pressure in a target-driven role. The role would suit both an experienced composites salesperson and an individual experienced in manufacturing but keen to move to a commercial role; commercial awareness is essential and commercial experience is preferred.

This role will also require the ability to proactively organise and manage a high workload and full computer literacy, with an ability to work with Windows Office programs and CRM databases.

Key responsibilities:

  • Regular travel within the UK and occasionally overseas
  • Development of PRF business across our prepreg and advanced materials ranges
  • Forecasting forward sales performance
  • Meeting monthly/annual targets
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with customers in motorsport, aerospace, automotive and defence industries
  • Establishing new business and key account management
  • Providing technical support to customers
  • Promotion of our products into the advanced composite industry at international trade shows
  • Working closely with our in-house sales and sales support teams to coordinate customer contact.

Experience:

An industrial/composite industry background is ideal, and candidates must have held practical roles with hands on experience in their previous roles. Scientific experience is desirable, ideally gained or utilised in a lab or production environment. Experience of working to quality standards like ISO 9001 2015 and 5S would be particularly useful, as well as good health and safety awareness.

Qualifications:

Minimum requirement: GCSE Maths and English and GCSE or equivalent in science / scientific subjects such as Chemistry/Physics/Biology.

Ideal requirement: scientific discipline or engineering / material science followed at a higher level.
